At present, the mainstream commercial lithium-ion batteries are mainly divided into three categories according to different packaging forms: soft package, square and cylindrical. The internal composition of lithium polymer battery (positive electrode, negative electrode, diaphragm and electrolyte) is not different from that of square and cylindrical lithium batteries. The biggest difference is that lithium polymer battery uses aluminum-plastic composite film as the shell, and square and cylindrical batteries use metal materials as the shell.
lithium polymer battery is different from the shell material of square and cylindrical batteries, which determines that its packaging method is also different. The soft pack cell adopts thermal packaging, while the metal shell battery is generally sealed by welding (laser welding).
The reason why lithium polymer battery adopts thermal packaging is that it uses aluminum-plastic packaging film material, which is usually divided into three layers, namely, outer resistance layer (generally the outer protective layer composed of nylon BOPA or PET), barrier layer (intermediate aluminum foil) and inner layer (multi-functional high resistance barrier layer).
lithium polymer battery cell mainly includes: aluminum plastic film forming, top sealing and side sealing, liquid injection and pre sealing, formation and shaping, exhaust and secondary sealing, edge cutting and folding.
